To celebrate her daughter B\u00e9atrice’s 18th birthday, Myriam wished to give her a symbolic piece of jewellery. So she approached Catherine Daymard to design a pair of earrings. With this creation, mother and daughter strengthened their special bond under the kind and generous gaze of a designer who is as passionate about jewellery as she is about women who wear them. <\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div>

Myriam, you asked Catherine Daymard to create a custom-made jewel for your daughter’s 18th birthday… <\/strong><\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>

Myriam:<\/strong> I have known Catherine for a long time, <\/span>so I didn\u2019t hesitate to call on her. <\/span>Celebrating important birthdays with <\/span>jewel<\/span>le<\/span>ry<\/span> is a tradition in our family, and turning 1<\/span>8 is a significant milestone! So I <\/span>wanted <\/span>a <\/span>piece of <\/span>jewel<\/span>lery<\/span> for <\/span>B\u00e9atrice<\/span> as unique as this moment in <\/span>her life. <\/span>I discussed the idea with <\/span>B\u00e9atrice<\/span>, and she immediately loved it. My daughter was very involv<\/span>ed in the selection and design <\/span>of the jewel.<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>

B\u00e9atrice:<\/strong> The creation of this <\/span>jewel<\/span>le<\/span>ry<\/span> was a truly special moment of bonding, not just with my mother but also with Catherine. She understood my wishes and brought to life a piece of <\/span>jewel<\/span>le<\/span>ry<\/span> that reflects my personality and lifestyle. I lead an ac<\/span>tive sport<\/span> life, I have a busy student life, and my style can be both casual and sophisticated. I wanted a precious piece that would be easy to wear and accompany me in my everyday life. The idea of the<\/span> Aigrettes<\/span>, in beaded white gold and diamond, <\/span>quickly<\/span> came to Catherine’s mind.<\/span> I love them so much that I never take them off, and I often receive compliments on them.<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div>

Catherine, how do you decypher your <\/span>clients’ <\/span>desires<\/span>? How <\/span>did<\/span> B<\/span>\u00e9<\/span><\/span>atrice’s<\/span> bespoke <\/span>jewel<\/span> come about<\/span>? <\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>

Catherine:<\/strong> We took the time to have extensive discussions with B<\/span><\/span>\u00e9<\/span><\/span>atrice<\/span> and her mother. <\/span>It was important for me to fully understand what would <\/span>please her<\/span> and <\/span>suit<\/span> her personality.<\/span> B<\/span><\/span>\u00e9<\/span><\/span>atrice<\/span> l<\/span>iked<\/span> the <\/span>earrings from my collection inspired by the Maharaja ring. So, I designed a piece in that spirit, sophisticated and youthful, tailored to B<\/span><\/span>\u00e9<\/span><\/span>atrice’s<\/span> life. Her eyes are a vibrant blue, and I immediately had the intuition that this color should guide the choice of the gemstone. <\/span>On<\/span> a<\/span>n appointment<\/span>, I brought <\/span>along <\/span>a box <\/span>of<\/span> blue <\/span>gems<\/span> to <\/span>identify<\/span> which ones would best <\/span>match<\/span> her eyes. The choice became evident to us: a blue-gr<\/span>e<\/span>y sapphire.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div>

What particular emotions does a bespoke piece of jewellery convey? <\/strong><\/p>\n

Myriam:<\/strong> I offered a necklace from a famous jeweler to B\u00e9atrice’s sister. The feeling was very different… Catherine is much more than just a jewellery designer: she gives humanity to her pieces. She spends time on them and takes a great interest in the life of the person who is going to wear it. A piece of jewellery is not just an ordinary object. It is a part of intimacy, a part of oneself that forms one with the person who wears it, and sometimes even for multiple generations. That’s why Catherine’s perspective makes all the difference.<\/p>\n

B\u00e9atrice:<\/strong> Since this piece of jewel<\/span><\/span>le<\/span><\/span>ry<\/span> is custom-made, I know that I won’t see it on anyone else. The fact that I <\/span>was <\/span>actively <\/span>involved <\/span>in its creation gives <\/span>me the feeling of my own unique<\/span>ness<\/span>, and I am deeply attached to it. Its story is mine.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Catherine:<\/strong> I am a mother of four boys. Accompanying B<\/span><\/span>\u00e9<\/span><\/span>atrice<\/span> in this important moment of her life has been a source of joy for me. I was very happy and touched to be able to <\/span>take part<\/span> in the creation of a piece of jewel<\/span><\/span>le<\/span><\/span>ry<\/span> that symbolizes the bond between a mother and her daughter. Even though B<\/span><\/span>\u00e9<\/span><\/span>atrice’s<\/span> father was involved at the beginning, the <\/span>making<\/span> quickly turned into a story of women!<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div>

I l<\/span>ike<\/span> the idea of dedicating time, <\/span>of <\/span>connecting an object to the creative process, to the gestation<\/span> period<\/span>. This time adds even more value to the object. Value and joy. Because all the <\/span>conversations<\/span> with Catherine <\/span>were<\/span> full of cheerfulness, complicity, and humanity!<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n
